One Night in Bangkok
I have arrived in Bangkok- the City of Angels! I have already done this narrative once. I lost it and it is gone somewhere. I'm having problems with blogger on my phone so please bear with me until I get this problem straightened out.
Arriving at my hotel around noon time, I didn't want to sleep now because then I would never go to sleep tonight. I headed out to walk the big bad streets a Bangkok. I headed down towards lumpini Park. I passed a barber shop where I have gotten my haircut in the past. That sounded like a very good idea.
It was a good idea! The same Barber was there that I had 2 years ago. It was nice to lay back and have someone wash my hair and cut it nice and short. It was a good thing to do on a hot afternoon. I headed over to the park and walked around a bit. There were people exercising and running as well as students hanging around. I would say many of them had photography projects to do and they all had that cameras and we're taking pictures in the park. I was kind of disappointed as the park was not in bloom but it was still nice to walk around.
At the entrance to the park is a huge statue of Rama IV. This is the king of Thailand but which the play The King and I was written. People in Thailand revere that King and the statue and the platform are covered with flowers and offerings to the king. Currently the king is only been on the throne for about a year. His father Rama IX, died 2 years ago. He was very much loved by the Thai people and his picture is still around and many places. Interestingly, Bimipol-his given name, was born in Cambridge Massachusetts while his father was attending Harvard University. That makes him an American citizen.
I stopped back at the hotel and took a quick shower and headed out for dinner. I looked for a place that had authentic Thai food. They used to be a little outdoor restaurant that opened up around 6 every night on the sidewalk. They had folding tables and chairs and they cooked right there. The food was out of this world but like things come and go, this restaurant went.
I found a new restaurant that was recommended by TripAdvisor. It was a small place but very authenticly Thai. It was run by an American but the food was fabulous. I had a curry with chicken. He asked me if I wanted it mild or medium spicy. I asked the medium. I can't even imagine what hot must be. This was on fire. However it was delicious. As a single they asked me to sit at a table with another single person. It was a gentleman from Norway. I asked him if he was interested in emigrating as I present it would love to have Norwegians come to America. That certainly got the conversation going and even the owner chimed in. All three of us were on the same page.
After dinner I strolled Through the Night Market. I love the Night Market but I was really exhausted and it was time to go to bed.
